About the role: As the Waste Control Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring a seamless delivery of service to the Waste Operational teams across the business. Leading six 24/7 shifts teams and acting as the cohesive element to ensure consistency in practice and drive through change. You will be tasked with continuing to build a clear program for development, succession and competency. You will be a champion of removing friction, identifying smarter ways of working, making use of technology and reducing the opportunity for human error. You will work with the Head of the Department to translate the strategic aims of the business into workable processes and ensure compliance to regulatory targets. Key areas of accountability will include: - Line management of the System Operation team, ensuring adherence to Shift Working Arrangements - Develop clear succession planning and competency plans for all team members, aligned with Learning & Development (L&D) - Lead a team to develop and deliver the People Strategy, including recruitment, training, development and succession - Deliver and monitor service to business Service Level Agreement (SLA) and processes to deliver optimal performance for our customers - Build relationships with SPI and Operations teams to ensure delivery of regulatory objectives - Ensure effectiveness, utilisation and productivity of the teams on shift - Ensure that business processes and best operating practices are in place for system optimisation - Seek process and procedural improvements to continual reduce events and impacts - Develop forward looking strategy for Alarm Control To be successful, you will have the following skills and experience: - Positive and engaging leader, with a practical mindset - Previous people management experience, preferably in a variety of environments - Problem-solving mindset and the ability of driving change and maintaining momentum - Experience in the Water Industry or a Control Room Environment of any kind would be an advantage - Strong, presenting, verbal and written skills - Understanding of Microsoft 365 products including PowerBI and PowerApps is desired as is a general willingness to make use of technology - Due to the nature of this role an ability to work flexible hours is essential - A full driving licence is required What's in it for you?
