Job Description

Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Hertfordshire Our clients are one of the UK's largest geotechnical and contaminated land consultancies with offices based throughout the UK and internationally. As they continue to expand, they are currently looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in Hertfordshire. The role: As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing geotechnical consultancy services to predominantly multidisciplinary engineering projects across the UK. All project work shall be carried out with due diligence and adherence to company procedures and completed within the agreed cost budgets and time scales. Good communication skills are required to liaise with project team members and other personnel to ensure project success and client satisfaction. More specifically you will be required to: * -Manage a variety of geotechnical projects for both external clients and other teams internally * -Provide technical support at all stages of assigned projects and controlling project costs * -Design, specify and manage desk studies, feasibility studies and ground investigations * -Be conversant with soil and rock logging to current geotechnical standards, including laboratory scheduling * -Prepare professional and competent ground investigation and geotechnical design reports * -Undertake geotechnical analysis for a variety of temporary and permanent works including design of temporary working platforms, crane bases, Hording/fence design, slopes, reinforced earthworks, foundations, ground improvement, basements and various types of retaining structures and ground movement assessments * -Prepare earthworks specification documentation * -Manage the production of design drawings * -Attend site for a variety of roles including ground investigation, construction monitoring, site or asset inspections and site validation * -Attend project design meetings * -Prepare proposals and tenders * -Travel to other offices and sites within the UK Requirements: * - BEng or equivalent in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or similar * - Typically a further degree in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnics or equivalent would be desirable * - Working towards chartership with either the ICE or another relevant professional body * - Minimum 3 years specific relevant experience * - Experience in teamwork and good problem-solving skills * - Good communication and report writing skills * - Familiar with the use of specialist geotechnical software including the Oasy's suite Pile, Alp, Slope, Pdisp, Xdisp and Greta, Wallap and PLAXIS or similar. * - A good understanding of geology, ground investigation works, engineering geology, geotechnical engineering and earthworks * - Demonstrable experience of geotechnical inspections, studies, design and reporting * - Able to complete factual and interpretative assessments * - Able to deliver projects and work within a multi-disciplinary consultancy * - Able to write proposals that are both technically sound and commercially accurate * - Strong track record in managing time and resources effectively and within budget In Return: * - £30,000 - £40,000 salary * - Excellent training and career progression prospects * - Contributory pension scheme * - Free life assurance cover * - Flexible benefits programme Keywords: Geotechnical, Geoenvironmental, Geotechnical Engineering, Land Contamination, Site Engineer, Ground Investigation, Geotechnical Engineer, Geo-environmental Engineer, Geology, Environmental Scientist, geotechnical assessments, Civil Engineer, Contaminated Land Consultant, Engineering Geologist, Geotechnical Design Engineer, Site Investigation Engineer, Soil Mechanics, Soil Analysis, ICE
