Occupational Therapist SEN school in Merton Start ASAP - Temp to Permanent anzuk are working with an SEN school that is part of a large academy trust with an Outstanding Ofsted rating. The school are looking for an OT to join their friendly and successful therapy team that work in partnership with lecturers/teachers and support staff across all of the sites. The SEN school caters to children and students with physical and complex needs aged 2-19 years. They provide a non-residential and residential, stimulating learning environment for students across a wide range of diagnoses including moderate/severe/and profound learning disabilities, Autism, physical disabilities, mental health, and additional diagnoses. They are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join their close-knit team. This post is suitable for practitioners looking to extend their clinical experience within the field of Autism, Learning disability and associated difficulties and work within an educational setting. The selected candidate will be required to work closely with the Speech and Language Therapist and other professionals providing support to students. Experience within this field is essential and at least two years within a relevant setting is preferred; however consideration will be given to candidates who have had experience as part of their undergraduate training. CPD opportunities will be provided for the successful candidate to develop skills and practice and to assist in developing practice and information needs. The successful candidate will be required to provide assessment, therapy and review for students. Training of staff may be required upon request. Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) will benefit greatly from OT support and guidance when carrying out activities with students such as cooking, and when overseeing basic life skills such as personal hygiene tasks. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE Accept clinical responsibility for a varied caseload of pediatrics Provide clinical assessment and intervention to learners in the service. Autonomously manage and treat a diagnostically varied and complex patient caseload To undertake risk assessments to determine appropriate management, specifically related to moving and handling, safe use of equipment. Guide and support teaching staff on manual handling procedures in the classroom. Plan and implement person-centered individual and/or group interventions that aim at improving functional abilities and participation in College/school-related learning activities as well as everyday life.
