Job Description

My client operates two biodiesel manufacturing facilities on the east coast of England, at Immingham and on Teesside. The facilities convert used waste oils and fats into biodiesel and are the largest of their kind in Europe. The company continues to develop these facilities in order to: * Source waste oils in smaller containers and from a larger range of suppliers. * Improve reliability. * Expand production. The company is now looking to hire an experienced Mechanical Technician for its Teesside operation. Job Purpose To provide a front-line maintenance service to support biodiesel production at achieve maximum availability. To be equally comfortable with both working alone and part of a multi discipline team. To direct the maintenance team including contractors to the agreed planned action/emergent work and provide timely feedback to the Maintenance Manager. To identify and deliver Planned Maintenance schedules from technical manuals, reliability reports and other sources. Need to provide out-of-hours support during planned shutdown periods and breakage outages, either by shift cover or callout, as appropriate at the time. Principal Accountabilities * Strip, inspect, service and repair Pumps, Centrifuges. * Proficiency in the reading and understanding of mechanical schematic drawings * Ability to take the information from schematic drawings and assemble equipment * Bring own-craft expertise to bear, but also foster a team-culture within the maintenance squad. * Act as focal point and direct all maintenance activities via work directed by Maintenance Manager. * Willingness to learn new skills * Strong teamwork and communication skills to work on multiple/concurrent projects * Works independently and responsible without close supervision. * High level of job interest and desire to produce a quality product * To perform an enabling role as regards timing, permit preparation, and site liaison to ensure both the safety of providers and value-for-money * Become familiar with all Biofuels technical information systems. To assist with keeping systems up-to-date. * Be prepared to "champion" areas of own skill and interest for the benefit of the company. * Use of focal Maintenance Management System, with clear and accurate entries for work close out, to include auditing of others. * Be willing to take other direction, i.e. project involvement. Personal Attributes * Technical competence within own skill-set. * Excellent health and safety record * Proven skills to foster a "team environment" and "can do" approach by all. * Ability to function either as part of a team or individually. * Good communication and cross-functional skills. * Team player. * Good attention to detail and "finisher/completer" skills Qualifications and Experience * Time-served tradesman with 5 years' + experience. * You will hold a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in a Mechanical or Building Services related subject * Experience of chemical processing plants essential. * Experience of working with sub-contractors. * Experience with Hazardous areas and equipment is desirable * Computer literate
