Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineer We are looking for a professional, motivated and organised Mechanical Design Engineer to join a very well-regarded organisation who specialise in the design, development, manufacture, installation and service of Power Generation and Combined Heat and Power Plants. Ideally we are looking for someone who has experience working with AutoCAD 3D and has a minimum of 2 years' experience in development of Energy Products, specifically in Power Generation, Pipework, Ventilation Design, CDM and Health and Safety. Benefits: *Early finish on Fridays *25 days' holiday plus bank holidays *Private health care after 6 months of tenure *Life insurance You will be involved in: *Creating concept designs, and developing these into detailed designed to meet specifications *Production of Process Flow Diagrams, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, Functional Design Specifications, Technical Specifications, Schematic Drawings, Detail Drawings and Equipment Schedules *Working with CAD designers to ensure that design packages (General Arrangements, Piping Drawings and Layouts) are produced to a quality standard in a timely manner *Being responsible for the design of Heat Recovery, Heat Rejection, Hot Water, Chilled Water, Steam, Noise Attenuation and Ventilation Systems through technical calculations and assessments (including safety assessments) *Knowledge of pipe and pump sizing based on maximum allowable velocities and pressure losses for various fluids *Specification, selection and requisition of materials and plant for the use in the build of Combined Heat and Power, or Tri-generation Systems, including; Heat Exchangers, Pumps, Boilers, Chillers, Filters, Controls and Instrumentation. *Where appropriate participate or lead HAZOP, HAZIF, OPMAN, SIL and risk assessment studies *Attend site for technical and layout surveys *Develop understanding of Biogas Conditioning for Anaerobic Digestions of organic water for renewable combined heat and power plants What we are looking for: *Previous experience working in power generation, pipework and ventilation design *Experienced working 3D AutoCAD *HNC/D or degree qualified in mechanical engineering *Minimum of 2 years' experience in management and development of Energy Products *Car driver with own car as site visits are required Experience of working within the CDM regulations, current HS & E legislation and ISO quality standards would be desirable.
