About the role: The purpose of this role is to carry out field investigations into complex operational problems with the waste water network, identifying solutions to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction. This role is carried out both in the office and field, with a focus to deliver a high level of customer service and network performance through the provision of network expertise. Whilst this has a proposed base location of Kidlington in Oxfordshire, the scope of responsibility will cover the Abingdon, Wantage, Didcot and Wallingford areas. Specific duties include: - Coordination of complex planned and reactive technical activities to make sure maximum effectiveness and minimal customer impact. - Be responsible for making technical decisions on work being carried out with principal focus on network and customer impact balanced with appropriate cost control. - Provide technical support to the Field Operations Manager and act as key focal point between control and the field for coordination of operational resources for unplanned work and operational events. - Provide information to integrated planning on required network maintenance and improvement to network strategy function to make sure a robust, stable and efficient network. - Work with field teams and the customer management function to determine cause of complex/difficult flow and pressure problems. - Raise accurate and detailed job work orders directly onto work management systems when requesting work to be done. - Provide technical support to determine solutions to problems and make sure a robust, stable and efficient network. - Provide information on required maintenance and improvement to the Performance, Risk and Optimisation Team, and assist with contingency planning. - Take personal ownership of customer issues, responding to queries and complaints and resolving issues. - Contribute to the business unit achieving its financial targets. - Responsibility for working in compliance with company procedures including health and safety and street works legislation. To be successful you will have the following skills and experience: - Do you have a technical aptitude with good interpersonal skills, a proactive attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile and get 'hands on' when required? - Are you seeking a job where you can take responsibility of a designated area to optimise efficiency? - The successful candidate will be educated to GCSE level as a minimum. - Great communication skills are needed to maintain and improve our high quality of customer experience as well as having good IT skills. - Knowledge of waste water network systems is desirable together with a sound working knowledge of the health and safety at work act. - You will also demonstrate a good business / stakeholder awareness, cost management experience together with an innovative and creative approach to problem solving and strong team working and influencing skills. - Full UK Driving Licence with willingness to travel across the Thames Valley region assisting other areas as required. - Willingness to participate in an Out of Hours Co-ordinator role that is currently set at 1 week in 6.
