Job Description

A rapidly growing and successful UK provider of superfast and ultrafast broadband are looking for Fibre Splicers to join their team in Kent. They are bringing their own fibre optic networks to homes and businesses using FTTP technology and are using modern, future-proof equipment fit for the digital age, to offer customers the highest speeds and quality broadband services in the country. Applications from suitably experienced ex-military personnel (British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy or Royal Marines) are strongly encouraged. The Splicer will be an experienced and competent fibre optic splicer who completes work to the highest quality. You will be part of an installation team of four people, connecting and testing fibre optic cables inside the existing BT Openreach ducts to build ultrafast broadband networks. Key Responsibilities: Carry out risk assessments prior to work Install, splice and secure fibre distribution points either underground or mounted on telegraph poles Interpret job packs and fibre allocation tables Install and splice splitters in broadband cabinets using automatic fusion splicer Photograph completed fibre distribution points both inside the closure and externally showing position on chamber or on pole Work safely using gate guards and signage as appropriate Take responsibility for tools issued and vehicle assigned in accordance with Call Flow vehicle policy Carry out acceptance testing using OTDR, light source and power meter Trace and rectify any faults found The role is principally working within a network installation team. However, you may also be required to carry out splicing work at the customer premises. Person Specification: Have a proven track record of fibre optic splicing NSRWA Unit 2 Signage, guarding and light NSRWA Unit LA Avoidance of underground apparatus IPAF MEWP Mobile Boom B3 Conversant with principles and standards for Passive Optical Networks Knowledge and experience of working to BT Openreach standards and processes for underground safety, working at height and confined spaces Current qualification to work on BT Network or equivalent Full clean driving licence Able to work well with others Excellent organisation skills Clear and concise communicator Physically fit Salary: £25,000 - £29,000 DOE Benefits: 25 days paid holiday, plus bank holidays Pension Free parking Uniform and equipment provided Use of Company Vehicle at work Friendly working environment
